The “Knights and Legends” festival at Smederevo Fortress
A great way to spend the May holidays without leaving Serbia has been found. And all fans of historical reenactment finally get the chance to see the Serbian version.
In Smederevo, from 1 to 3 May, the holidays will be celebrated with a three-day festival «Knights and Legends». The town fortress will be brought back to its historical spirit, with a medieval village built and a variety of workshops on traditional crafts. And best of all — knightly battles in full armour.
🎠 You'll be able to ride horses and try archery, and there's a separate entertainment program for kids.
That's our kind of thing! Saddle up!
Upd: The festival program is in the comments
Guys, seriously, whoever goes, share your impressions and photos. I'd go myself, but I'll be at the carnival in Budva)

Vidovdan celebrations in Ćuprija and at Ravanica
For fans of historical reenactment and history, there's one more reason to leave Belgrade this weekend.
Ćuprija and its surroundings, especially near Ravanica Monastery, will host "Vidovdanske svečanosti" — annual festivities dedicated to Vidovdan, one of the most important days in Serbian culture and Orthodox tradition.
🎉 What awaits you at the Vidovdan celebrations:
concerts by well-known performers and folk ensembles,
presentations of books and creative projects,
exhibitions of traditional embroidery,
fairs of folk crafts and decorative and applied arts,
workshops on old needlework techniques.
But the main highlight of the festival is, of course, the historical reenactment.
🛡 Serbia in the time of Prince Lazar
For several days, the streets of Ćuprija and the surrounding villages are immersed in the atmosphere of 14th-century medieval Serbia.
The town comes alive with:
theatrical processions,
knightly troops in armor,
costumed characters — warriors, princes and commoners,
interactive performances telling about the life and battles of that time. It's real living history that lets everyone feel the spirit of the Battle of Kosovo and life in 14th-century Serbia.
A special place in the program is given to services at Ravanica Monastery, where the relics of Holy Prince Lazar rest — a symbol of martyrdom, faith and resistance to evil. Pilgrims and believers gather on this day to pay tribute and pray.
If you want to touch living traditions, soak up the spirit of Serbian history and truly feel what Vidovdan means — Ćuprija is worth your attention this weekend.
