In the Balkans the season is starting when sensible people stay at home with a cup of tea, while on 8 November 2026 others will line up for the 14th Open Fruška Gora Mountain Running Championship. It's already a tradition: for the fourteenth year in a row, runners gather to take on Fruška for the best time.

The meeting point is the “Zanatlija” Planinarski dom (mountain lodge). The announcement says nothing about distances or registration, so it's best to check the organisers' page via the link below. Even if, like me, you only ever run for the bus, a day like this is worth heading to the hills for. At least to cheer on the ones who are running.
