The entrance hall of Dimitrije Živadanović's house

Hi, Balkan folks)! I want to tell you about one amazing entrance hall in Belgrade and, of course, show it to you.

It's in the house of Dimitrije Živadinović at Gračanička 16.

The first thing that amazes you is the carved wooden doors. Pure delight. And when you open them and step inside, you forget all about the doors. There's so much beauty around, you can hardly believe you've walked into the entrance of an apartment building. It's more like a museum, a palace or an art gallery. I won't describe these romantic motifs to you. Better look at the photos.

And although Dimitrije Živadinović's House is an officially recognised cultural monument, it's freely accessible, which is especially nice. No guards and no entrance fee, because this is the Balkans, baby!

Drop in and have a look while we're here)

A bit of history — Dimitrije Živadinović's House was built in 1904 as a commercial building with a paper-trading hall on the ground and first floors and living quarters on the second. Dimitrije Živadinović was the father-in-law of General Aleksandar Dimitrijević, court marshal to King Alexander Karađorđević, as well as an outstanding banker and merchant. In short, the man had money. Thanks to which we can still admire this beauty today.

The entrance hall you see in the photos was painted by the famous decorative painter Dragutin Inkiostri. I managed to find out the following. The National Theatre (Belgrade), the building of the Third Belgrade Gymnasium and many houses of wealthy Belgraders were also decorated to his designs. He was one of the ideologists of the national architectural style known as the Serbo-Byzantine Revival and the only decorative painter in Belgrade at that time who combined different branches of art based on folk ornament in his works.

Huge thanks for this discovery to the great Belgrade expert @lubernacki

The second walk around Belgrade's secret corners

After our first walk through the secret corners of Belgrade, you often asked: "Will there be another one?" — and we're happy to answer: yes, there will!

This Wednesday, 28 May, we're once again setting off in search of Belgrade's hidden places — the ones that are easy to walk past, but if you just look closer, you'll discover… a clock with a story, a cosy courtyard with a secret, and a little further on — a staircase leading to an unexpected view.

This isn't just a tour, it's warm company where you can stroll at a leisurely pace, be amazed, take photos, chat and share impressions.

📍 Where are we going?

• a money museum in a building with a rich history,
• the first Serbian kafana,
• entrance halls with stained glass and stucco,
• old Belgrade — quiet, atmospheric and real

To finish — a well-deserved rest in the historic Moskva café: ☕️ a cup of aromatic coffee or a glass of prosecco 🥂 — your choice.

This walk is for those who love details, atmosphere and unexpected discoveries.

Photo exchange: Secrets of Old Belgrade, 19 May!

Hi everyone! Lyuda here, and today we did our first walk around the city!

In a nutshell — it was great!

📸We uncovered a Belgrade hidden behind beautiful carved doors. We were inspired by the noisy green spring city, amazed by the untouched interiors of the money museum and the gorgeous entrance halls, and strolled through the old town. We feasted our eyes on exquisite architecture and at the end had a wonderful time together, chatting and trying the iconic 🍰"Moskva" dessert at the hotel of the same name! God, it's so beautiful there!

The time flew by, I hope Belgrade revealed yet another side of itself to you.

Thanks to everyone who came! Share your photos and impressions in the comments, as is our tradition

And for those still planning to join us, watch for announcements — we'll 100% do it again!

Photo exchange "Secrets of Old Belgrade", 28 May

Hi everyone! Lyuda here — and today we had another city walk!

What can I say — it was magical

We walked, examined details, peeked into places you don't usually peek into — and discovered a Belgrade that hides behind façades, in courtyards, in stucco and old doors.

We soaked up the atmosphere, looked at the city unhurriedly, admired it and chatted, of course) And at the end… Oh, that Moskva dessert, and surrounded by velvet and gilding too))
We can afford it, because our walk isn't just about buildings, but also about the pleasure of being together

Lovely ladies, thank you for a wonderful walk! Share your photos and impressions in the comments 💬

And for those still planning to come — watch for announcements!

Kalemegdan in the evening and a safety warning

Kalemegdan in the evening. Lovers have taken over every bench. Clearly it's spring) And neither rain nor wind scares them.
Almost everything has already finished blooming, but there's still plenty to see. I'd say the camera was worth bringing.

And now some not-so-happy news. Today word came out that on Sunday around 23:00 one of our compatriots was beaten and robbed in Kalemegdan.
Be careful when choosing the time and route. It's an illusion that Belgrade is an absolutely safe city. Unpleasant things happen in big cities. Alas.
Take care of yourselves and good night, everyone

Snowy slides at Kalemegdan

🛷 If you thought Kalemegdan was only about the fortress, history and panoramas — then you haven't yet seen how its snowy hills turn into awesome sledding slopes for kids and grown-ups!

The best slope is right in the middle of the fortress, a 100% landmark - children's shrieks of joy.

Grab your snow saucers and sleds — and off you go sledding before the snow melts! ❄️ Today we tested it all ourselves: we left worn out, covered in snow and happy.😊

✌️ We got our snow saucer at Decathlon — it slides decently and doesn't break on the first run, unlike the knock-offs from Chinese shops.

Kula viewing platform: when the view is at its best

Who has already been up to the Kula observation deck — share your impressions! What time of day do you think the view of the city is the most beautiful?

It seemed to me that at sunset it's already a bit too dark: most of the city ends up in shadow, and the panorama loses some of its colours.

For those who are only planning to go — a reminder: the height is 168 metres, with a 360-degree panoramic view and a view over most of the city. Besides the view of the city, there's a cafeteria, souvenirs and a few photo zones

Tickets are available online.

Opening hours:
10:00 to 22:00.
Price: until the end of August tickets are sold at a 50% discount, 400–900 dinars.
Children under 7 — free.

So, morning, afternoon or evening?

Belgrade Waterfront after winter

Belgrade Waterfront, preening its feathers after winter The district where, according to Serbs, only gangsters, prostitutes and Russians live) But I like it
It's a pity that the waterfront is now split into 2 parts because of the bridge repairs, and apparently it will stay that way for a long time. Walking, running and cycling have become less comfortable.
