Where there's cheese, there's happiness, and where there's a fair, there's cheese.
The Belgrade Fair (Beogradski sajam) is hosting the 20th anniversary Ethno Food and Drink Fair. It's a regional showcase of products made to traditional recipes, the old-fashioned way, without rushing. National specialities and products from particular corners of the region, most often handmade and from organic ingredients.
I go to things like this on an empty stomach with a big bag, and come back thinking, “well, that's enough for the whole winter”. It's also a chance to see what really sets the food of one village apart from another's. The organisers have a serious idea: to show that traditional products are not just nostalgia but a full-fledged commodity, including for export. More details on etnohip.rs.
