The play “Kocka” (“The Cube”)

Predstava: “KOCKA”
Theatre

The most dangerous game is the one where “I'll just give it a try”.

"Kocka" (The Dice) is an educational play for teenagers from Belgrade Youth Centre (Dom omladine) and Studio Centar. The hero, high school student Aleksa, goes from thrill and small wins to a complete loss of control, relationships and himself. Across eight powerful scenes, it explores how addiction works today: online bookmakers, apps, advertising and the pressure of "success = speed and risk". Dostoevsky and his theme of obsession also flicker somewhere nearby.

I was afraid it would be a lecture along the lines of "don't do this". But the creators say it outright: this isn't a moral, it's a warning. The play doesn't judge — it asks where the line is when you're no longer playing to win but to survive. There are twenty performers on stage. We're heading to the Velika sala at DOB in Belgrade.

Have you noticed how easily "just trying it" turns into a habit? 👇

Original (Serbian)
