Tometino Polje and Tara: autumn hikes in Western Serbia

Let's start the week with good news.
We're opening the mountain walking season!

⛰️ 10 October — Tometino Polje

The plan is an easy hike-stroll: walking through some unusual terrain, breathing fresh air and generally having a good time.

Route: about 14 km long, with an elevation gain of 400–450 metres.

At the end, we'll have lunch at a restaurant in Divčibare.

Important‼️
This is a non-commercial trip, just a get-together of like-minded people 👣

If you have a car — great, let us know, maybe you can give someone a lift.
We'll arrange a transfer if needed. Its price will depend on the number of participants.

Organizational fee to the coordinator @aedguard — 1500 RSD.

📸 Photo exchange. October 10 — Tometino Polje

As often happens with us: the routes you expect nothing special from turn out to be the most interesting.

Today we witnessed autumn's first shy kisses. 🍂 The forest is starting to turn red and yellow, the oaks and acacias were the first to go golden, and scarlet bushes of unknown origin flare up among the greenery. Honestly, it was so beautiful for us today!

Tometino Polje itself is a picturesque mountain plateau at the foot of Mount Maljen. We visited a viewpoint overlooking the beautiful meanders of the Kamenica river. And all the way we admired panoramic views, hills, pastures and village houses tucked away among them.
And do you know what, or rather who, is practically absent here? People! None at all! A route for lovers of silence, solitude and contemplating nature.

So we got our fill of the local wildlife — and . We climbed into an abandoned old house and looked at the simple life of the locals.
We tried some local berries (that wasn't just brave, it was v@ry brave) and, it seems, survived. 😁
And we brought home fragrant, super-sweet apples from Maljen.

We walked 20,000 steps and had dinner at our favorite restaurant DivčiBar. And a pleasant surprise awaited us there — we ran into our Novi Sad friends from the "Kosanama" channel. They'd just come back from a mushroom festival. They say there are few mushrooms. We, by the way, didn't see a single mushroom all day. The forest is dry; now after the rain they should pop up. 🍄

And we also hit the weather jackpot! 🎰
The weather was perfect for a hike: first the sun painted the hills, then little clouds came out and it got even better — not hot, not cold, a light breeze and a perfect 20 degrees. It was as if the weather looked at our route and decided: "Fine, we won't bother these guys today."

Even the rain passed us by twice! The first time while we were having dinner, the second ended just as we got back to Belgrade.

All in all, it turned out to be a wonderful walking day🫶🏻: beautiful views, autumn colors, suspicious berries, sweet apples, 20 thousand steps and lovely company.
